The widow by giving away even that which she needed to live on was investing into God’s treasury her great faith that is worth more than gold. Her light and momentary trials were refining her faith so that it would be proved genuine and result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Her genuine faith would shield her by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

The region called Gerasenes was across the sea indicates the people of Gerasenes kept to themselves and were not open to receiving from others. Gerasenes appears to be a city walled in with steep mountains and hills filled with ancient tombs. This indicates that the people were steeped in their own ideologies and kept to themselves. This man who lived there was possessed by an evil (or unclean) spirit.

They were fishermen implies they understood that fishing involved the use of baits to attract hungry fish. When Jesus says to the fishermen to follow Him so that they could fish for people—one, He is speaking in their language. Two, He is offering to provide answers that would satisfy hungry men.

We are not to test the Lord as the Israelites did by showing contempt and disregard to God’s amazing love and providence. While God provides angelic assistance and protection and does forgive offenses as when David and his men ate the consecrated bread that was unlawful for them to eat, it was only permissible to the extent provided within God’s covenant. Once the covenant was broken, offenders had to be punished—as was the case with Achan’s sin and David’s sin of numbering his men and so on.

Jesus has just been baptized. He comes out of the Jordan in the power of the Holy Spirit. And the next thing that a believer does when he is full of the Holy Spirit is to live a godly life and share their testimony with others. Jesus too was taken into a desert which implies that this was an unharvested field.

We are called to administer the wine are being called to make the Kingdom attractive to all so that they will be drawn in large numbers and seek to partake of the Kingdom. This is the wedding feast of the Lamb when all shall partake of the feast of God’s Word and have an abundance of His Spirit. They shall belong to the everlasting kingdom forever and ever! Amen.

Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” 10Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

If you are facing a perilous situation, ask God to strengthen your heart with scripture from His Word so that you can go and win your battles with God’s help. Nothing is impossible as we have seen countless times that God always helps those who depend on Him.

In submitting to God’s work in her life against all odds, she was giving Him complete control over the situations and circumstances that her submission would bring. She was surrendering herself and her entire life in the hands of the master and proclaiming humbly out of the very depths of her heart that she was a servant of the Lord and she was willing to do as He said because she had faith in her wonderful master who cared for his servants.

Prayer is a conversation between two intelligent people. One person speaks and the other listens. Then the other person offers valuable suggestions and insight into the conversation. This builds up to the place where both parties are actively involved in edifying each other. This is what I call prayer.

Our humble desire is to enable understanding of key principles and models that God has given us in the word and decode scripture to enable it to be instantly applied into our lives.

God wants to answer our prayers; he wants us to have the best blessings possible. However when we walk in this world, we are often taken in by the lusts and the desires of the flesh. This is the reason we ask amiss. If we were perfectly aligned with God’s plans, we would ask for the right things at the right time, and God would answer our prayers.

The real problem was that even though the disciples had read the scriptures that revealed that Jesus would come and become the sacrifice for the sins of all humanity, they failed to have revelation into the purposes of God. 

We need to understand that God’s work often allows us to be placed in uncomfortable circumstances—a figurative type of “lion’s den.” These experiences may come in the form of “loss of personal wealth or the financial health of a business.

Quite often we try to present ourselves in the best possible manner to those we believe are able to determine the course of our lives. However, we do not recognize that people do not hold the keys to our destiny but it is the Lord who determines the next steps in our lives.

When it appears that our prayers are not being answered, it is natural to think that we are not blessed. But we do not realize that we are already blessed.

God does amazing and miraculous acts everyday and most of the time we are not even aware of them. Job was too caught up in his own situation and was so obsessed with the problem that he had that he failed to understand that God was greater than all his troubles put together and He had perfect control over his situation.

Jesus reprimanded the Pharisees and the Sadducees with very strong language, calling them a brood of vipers and white-washed tombs. There is no sin in using this type of language to correct someone who is off-course and does not understand the gravity of the sin they are committing.

Forgiving someone alone can enable you to think well for them. If you were unforgiving and hateful, you would not want anything good to happen to those you have not forgiven. On the contrary, if you wish to help someone correct their ways and show them the better way, it is definitely an indication that you’ve forgiven them all their faults and weaknesses and desire the best for them.
